RiP Dev merelease Pusher

Cuma berselang satu hari dengan di releasenya jailbreak Firmware 2.2 oleh iPhone Dev-Team, RiP Dev juga tidak mau ketinggalan dengan merelease Pusher. Software jailbreak yang juga untuk Firmware 2.2 tapi versi kali ini baru untuk pengguna Mac OS X. Dimana cara kerjanya agak sedikit berbeda dengan Pawnage yaitu dengan cari menginstal file-file ke dalam partisi user dari iPhone tanpa membuka sistem paritisi.

Pusher dapat digunakan untuk iPhone 2G dan 3G yg berjalan di Firmware 2.0.2, 2.1 dan 2.2.

Untuk versi Windowsnya akan di release segera.

So my point is simple - jailbreak is no longer needed in its “traditional” form for most people. This is why we have developed a tool that does something else… and it’s absolutely amazing. Here’s what it does: it puts some tools (including our own Installer) onto the user partition of the phone without opening the system partition up! You get Installer, a whole world of third-party tools that didn’t got into the AppStore for some reason, such as Kate, Qik, Snapture, and dozens of others, all that without compromising your security!

The tool is named Pusher (mostly because it pushes some things onto the iPhone, and because we found the allusion funny). It works for both 2G and 3G phones running 2.0.2, 2.1 and 2.2 firmwares. Simply download it, launch and follow the instructions on-screen - the whole process takes about 3 minutes.

To make your life even sweeter, we went ahead and added a few things for free that we thought might be useful - an alternative system font, an ability to set your SpringBoard background, two alternative Cyrillic keyboards, and a few other extras that might become useful. The Mac OS X version is available for download immediately, with a Microsoft Windows one following shortly after.

Firmware 2.2 - simple step by step

Bros, gua baru inget kalo iPhone 1st gen gua udah gua jual, jadi ngga bisa bikin custom firmware untuk iPhone 1st Gen, so sorry.

Edites on 13:34 : Bikin custom firmware nya untuk yang 1st gen dan 3G SU sih bisa, nanti sore gua bikinin. Tapi ngga bisa gua coba.

Gua hanya bisa upload yang 3G saja. Tapi berikut adalah langkah2 untuk upgrade ke 2.2 dengan safe.

1. Seperti sudah disebutkan, jangan upgrade/restore langsung dari iTunes karena akan otomatis langsung upgrade baseband kita! Ini sangat tidak direkomendasikan saat ini, karena Dev-Team sedang mengerjakan software unlock based on baseband yang sebelumnya. Jadi tolong di ingat ya.
2. Download stock firmware dari bagian File-file penting untuk firmware 2.2, pilih yang 3G atau yang 1st Gen, jangan sampai salah -> sesuaikan dengan iPhone yang elu punya.
3. Download juga PwnageTool 2.2 (Untuk iPhone 1st G gunakan Pwnage 2.2.1), jangan pake QuickPwn. Sorry ini baru untuk Mac saja saat ini.
4. Jalankan PwnageTool (download BL kalau belum), dan dia akan mencari stock firmware yang elu dowload di bagian 2. Buat dengan Expert Mode (always), dan go through satu-satu step yang di minta. Pada proses ini output nya adalah Custom Firmware.
5. Sama seperti cara PwnageTool sebelumnya, setelah selesai dia akan tanya apakah iPhone kita sudah pernah di pwn sebelumnya —> ini di baca: apakah saat ini iPhone kita menggunakan custom firmware dengan pwnage atau tidak. Kalau iya maka jawab sesuai dengan itu. Kalau belum maka kita akan di bimbing untuk masuk ke DFU mode.
6. Setelah selesai, tutup PwnageTool. Dan jalankan iTunes (kalau iTunes helper terpasang, maka dia akan otomatis muncul). Setelah itu restore Custom Firmware yang di buat di step 4.
7. Done

iPhone Dev-Team merelease software jailbreak 2.2

Akhirnya iPhone Dev-Team merelease jailbreak untuk Firmare 2.2 (cek bagian file2 penting di site ini, untuk download PwnageTool dan QuickPwn terbaru)

Dibawah ini akan gue lampirkan pernyataan dari mereka berdasarkan statement dari blog mereka :

1. GOLDEN RULE: If you have a 3G iPhone and want potential soft unlock in the near future do NOT use QuickPwn, and do not use the official ipsw or the iTunes update process without using PwnageTool.
2. Read item 1 again and again.
3. These are suitable for the recent 2.2 release.
4. Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
5. The ‘late 2008’ MacBook/air/pro line of computers have an issue with DFU mode. While it’s possible to go from Pwned 2.1 -> Pwned 2.2 (using PwnageTool), you can’t yet go from stock to pwned. If in any doubt use a different machine.
6. Choosing the correct tool is crucial. Be warned!
 

NOTE: ‘Simple Mode’ in PwnageTool currently only works for the iPod Touch. To use PwnageTool for iPhones you will need to use ‘Expert mode’. This is a workaround while we make an update and fix this issue. In order to do this you will need to navigate to the ‘General’ window and change two things: Deselect ‘activate’ ONLY if you are normally able to activate through iTunes (but if you wish to ‘hacktivate’ the iPhone using PwnageTool then leave it selected). You will also need to change the partition size to about 1000MB (type in the value or use the slider).

‘Hactivate’ means to activate the iPhone yourself without Apple. This is used if you live outside an officially supported region and cannot activate the phone using iTunes.

Baseband 101

‘baseband’ adalah nama generic yang diberikan untuk komponen internal iPhone yang menangani akses panggilan dan internet dari sebuah handphone. ‘baseband’ merupakan sistem komputer yang independen yang kecil dan unik yang berjalan di dalam iPhone anda, dan terpisah dari sistem utama yang menangani jalannya aplikasi seperti email dan google maps dan memainkan peranan penting dalam jaringan komunikasi internal. Bayangkan saja ia sebagai kabel modem atau periperal lainnya yang tersambung dalam komputer di rumah kalian yang kadang2 perlu di update. Ketika sebuah software update di release bersamaan dengan iTunes, baseband kadang2 di update sekalian untuk memperbaiki bug dan menambah fitur2 baru. Update dari Firmware 2.2 untuk iPhone 3G juga mengandung hal semacam ini, jadi melakukan update langsung melalui iTunes akan memprogram ulang dan mengupdate baseband dari iPhone kalian. Hal ini dapat menyebabkan mimpi buruk bagi orang2 tertentu seperti mereka yg memakai iPhone SU.

SIM Free/iPhone 3G FU

iPhone 3G model ini tidak memiliki lock Service Provider aka FU dan kalian dengan bebas dapat memakai simcard apa saja di dalam iPhone 3G FU ini, jadi kalian tidak perlu khawatir akan adanya update baseband. Dengan mudah upgrade saja iPhone 3G kalian ke 2.2 dengan iTunes dan gunakan Quickpawn untuk jailbreak. Dan alakazam Cydia dan Installer akan ada dengan sendirinya.

iPhone 3G yang di lock-Preserve Baseband

Jika kalian punya iPhone 3G yang di lock dan ingin mengupdate ke ke 2.2 tapi tetap menggunakan baseband sebelumnya, kalian harus membuat custom .ipsw. Dengan menggunakan custom .ipsw akan memberikan kesempatan yang lebih besar untuk menggunakan software unlock yang akan di release di kemudian hari. Custom .ipsw ini tidak akan mengandung baseband yang telah di update jadi kalian masih bisa menikmati fitur2 yang keren dari Firmwaren 2.2.

iPhone 3G yang di lock

Jika kalian sudah cukup puas dengan iPhone 3G kalian yang terikat dengan Service Provider tertentu sekarang dan tidak tertarik akan software unlock yang akan di release dalam waktu dekat ini, langsung saja restore dan upgrade ke 2.2 melalui iTunes dan gunakan QuickPwn untuk jailbreak dan tambahkan Cydia dan Installer.

iPhone 2G (1st Gen) yang di lock

Restore iPhone 2G kamu dengan iTunes lalu jalankan QuickPwn untuk melakukan keajaiban dari QuickPwn.

iPod Touch 1G (Original iPod Touch)

Update ke 2.2 dengan iTunes dan jalankan QuickPwn.

iPod Touch 2G (New iPod Touch)

Update terbaru iPhone Dev-Team mengenai Firmware 2.2

Seperti kita tahu Firmware 2.2 baru saja di release oleh Apple, dan Dev-Team sekali memberikan penjelasan yang lebih detail mengapa jangan dulu meng update ke Firmware 2.2 ini.

Silakan simak pernyataan di bawah ini oleh Dev-Team mengenai Firmware 2.2 :

Sir, step away from the keyboard.

So, as anticipated our friends the misfits have recently released the long awaited 2.2 update. We can confirm that this update SHOULD NOT be applied using iTunes if you want the chance of a soft-unlock in the near future.

If you want to keep that option of a ‘soft-unlock in the near future’ available but you want the new features of 2.2, you will be able to update to 2.2 using a PwnageTool created custom ipsw file that disables the baseband update. You will be able to do this using an updated version of PwnageTool that will be released sometime soon.

Some facts -

1.The 2.2 firmware for 3G contains a baseband update for the 3G iPhone.

2.The 2.2 firmware for 2G (1st gen iPhones) doesn’t contain a baseband update and the baseband is still at 04.05.04

3.We believe that our Pwnage technique (and therefore the Jailbreak) isn’t affected, but PwnageTool and QuickPwn do not support this release as yet, so DO NOT install 2.2 using iTunes as you will lose your jailbreak.

4.If you apply this update and you previously relied on PwnageTool or QuickPwn to activate your phone, it may become temporarily deactivated and unusable (until we release the new version of PwnageTool or QuickPwn).

5.PwnageTool and QuickPwn updates will be released as soon as possible that will allow a safe update path to 2.2 the release of these updates is inevitable but not imminent, we are creating the modifications right now and we need to put the new software through the usual testing process.

6.If you apply this update and you have third-party (non AppStore) applications  that you rely on they will stop working.

7.2G (1st gen) iPhone users who cannot wait for the new PwnageTool or QuickPwn can safely “Update” to 2.2 using iTunes, this will preserve the existing activation. However “restoring” to 2.2 using iTunes will return the iPhone to the unactivated state. If you are in any doubt just wait. (NB: This works for 2G ONLY).

8.The use of SIM-Proxies (small circuit boards/chips that sit underneath the SIM card) to provide GSM/UMTS service on your locked iPhone 3G is a method that we have always advised against. Early reports suggest that the 2.2 update disables the functionality of these devices. The techniques used were always unreliable and we are surprised that they have lasted this long.

9.We are not working on the 2nd generation iPod touch at the moment, so we cannot comment on what the the 2.2 software update may do to this specific model.

So, as always, if you are in any doubt whatsoever please delay the install of this firmware on any of your devices until we have investigated the release in more detail. Watch this space

Baru saja HP mengeluarkan seri notebook terbarunya HP TouchSmart tx2, dengan layar 12.1 inch. Dan yang menarik adalah teknologi multitouch, ngga tanggung2 langsung di screen.

Dan dengan digunakannya teknologi N-Trig’s DuoSense, membuat kita bisa menggunakan jari tangan atau pen (stylus). Sangat impressive. Walaupun harus di akui dari sisi style masih jauh di bandingkan dengan MacBook dari Apple. Price tag dimulai di USD 1,149.

Hayo Apple, jangan kalah dong.

iPhone Dev-Team one step closer to 3G unlock

Ada update terbaru dari blognya iPhone Dev-Team mengenai unlock iPhone 3G. Mereka menyatakan telah memiliki path yang jelas untuk di ikuti dan ini berarti satu langkah lagi kemajuan mendekati unlock iPhone 3G.

Berikut pernyataan dari mereka:

This ability we now have to spawn background tasks means we are one step closer to the 3G soft unlock. We have a clear path to follow, and “all” that remains is the implementation.

A quick summary of the key 3G-unlock-related achievements we’ve made so far:
1. Unsigned code execution on 3G baseband
2. Reverting 01.45 baseband to previous versions
3. Patching of static text (the AT&V demo)
4. Injection of AT routines (the task list demo)
5. Injection of background tasks (this demo)

Now it’s on to overriding the baseband code that enforces the carrier lock.

P.S. That “One more thing!” text is being generated by the backgrounded “steve” task at 5-second intervals. The “A0” is the task’s priority.

P.P.S. Remember…don’t update to official 2.2 when it comes out if you ultimately want a 3G soft unlock!

Spesifikasi final USB 3.0

Hari ini USB 3.0 promoter group yang terdiri dari Intel, HP, Microsoft,  ST-NXP Wireless dan Texas Instrument mengeluarkan spesifikasi final dari USB 3.0 yang di dub sebagai SuperSpeed USB (apakah ini salah satu alasan Steve Jobs abandoning si FireWire?). Seperti biasa USB 3.0 ini akan backward compatible sampai ke USB 1.1, tapi performa yang ditawarkan katanya sampai 10x lipat dari USB 2.0.

Tahap awal dari sisi controller diperkirakan akan muncul di sekitar pertengahan tahun 2009 tapi belum sampai di consumer device yang masih harus menunggu sampai mungkin di tahun 2010. Waduh kebayang flash disk, external storage, dll dengan kecepatan super tinggi …
